Senior .NET backend engineer in Lisbon
I’m Vasco, a senior .NET backend engineer based in Lisbon. I’ve spent more than twelve years building backend systems: APIs, event-driven services, integrations between systems that were never meant to talk to each other, and migrations of old applications onto current .NET. Most of that work was for central and retail banks, so I’m used to systems where correctness, audit trails and uptime aren’t optional.
This year I’m building open-source projects in public:
- ledger-core: an event-sourced, double-entry ledger in .NET 10, with CQRS, an outbox and a PostgreSQL event store.
- payee-match: name matching for .NET, built for the EU Verification of Payee check but useful anywhere two systems spell the same name differently.
The design decisions for each one are written down as ADRs in the repos, and the parts that take more thought than expected end up here.
Stack I use most: C#, .NET, ASP.NET Core, EF Core, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Azure and Service Bus, with Rust and Python when they fit better.
